Actor Kota Srinivas passes away
Telugu actor and Padma Shri awardee Kota Srinivas Rao has passed away. Hindustan Times reported that the actor died on Sunday morning due to old age-related ailments at his residence in Filmnagar, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. He was 83 years old. He had celebrated his birthday just three days ago.

Kota Srinivas Rao, who has been active in cinema for more than four decades, has acted in more than 750 films in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi. He made his debut in 1978 with the Telugu film ‘Pranam Kharidu’. He was equally skilled in all types of roles – villain, comedy or supporting character. He made his Bollywood debut in 2005 with the character ‘Silver Money’ in Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Sarkar’. Some of his notable films are ‘Aha Na Pellanta!’, ‘Pratighatana’, ‘Khaidi Number 786’ and ‘Shiva’. His outstanding acting earned him many awards including the Padma Shri (2015), 9 Nandi Awards, and many more. He was also active in the political arena. In 1999, he was elected as a BJP candidate from Vijayawada East Assembly constituency and served as an MLA until 2004. The Telugu film industry is in shock over the death of Srinivas Rao. Colleagues, fans and political leaders are paying tribute on social media. Actor Vishnu Manchu wrote on X, ‘A legend beyond words. The death of Srikota Srinivas Garu has weighed heavily on my heart. An extraordinary actor, a man of rare talent; who gave life to every character with unique skill. I have worked with him in many films, I grew up watching his acting. His art, smile, and spirit will live on among us.’
